Pencil Staedtler

Are you artistic? (Regardless of skill level) What do you enjoy?
I am a writer who likes to doodle, primarily sci-fi and fantasy. I am a huge dragon fan, and my 360 avatars should be a dead give-away.
Though the art and writing has yet to seriously compete with my day job, it's that which helps me ease through the sometimes very unnerving, stressful aspects of real life.
I've only been actively drawing since the end of June '03, as a coping mechanism of my mother's death (believe me, it's a LOT more therapeutic than turning to the bottle!) and hadn't completed anything new since '91, while in high school.
I am on Elfwood and Deviantart and a few other places, and do artwork as a hobby, not for side income. I am trying to get my first novel (not available online) published the old-fashioned way.
I use Prismacolors, Staedtler Mars Professional ink pens (usually 0.35 or 0.35 micron tips) and 6H-8B pencils. I have very much to learn, and have no illusions regarding my limited skill level. No digital art, yet.
How about the rest of you?
Um...I like Manga art. I draw alot but I'm not very good yet becuase I never finish my drawing. I use Sharpies and Signo uni-ball Micro 207 for my inking. It's a regular pen but it's got good ink and doesn't smear. I prefer mechanical pencils, I have drawing pencils but only used them maybe once. I'm good at proportion and like drawing humans. I'm on Tokyopop.com (it just got updated and is impossible to navigate) and Fanfiction.net I used to have a Fanartcentral.net account but dropped it after yaoi was banned lol. My account on Toykopop.com is Siriuslysnaped
( http://www.tokyopop.com/Siriuslysnaped/art )
I also worship artist like Divinci (I'm left handed too!) and other old artists. I like Picasso before and after he went ...weird. I am not a fan of impressionist or cubists though. I LOVE ink drawings of any kind and oil paintings and water colors.
What is the Best Mechanical Drawing Pencil?
What is the best brand of drawing pencils? Specifically mechanical pencil. I am interested in investing on a mechanical pencil, since I like to draw a lot. I just don't know what to get.
I am currently using Staedtler Mars drawing pencils (not mechanical) and they are pretty great, but I really want to upgrade to mechanical.
What is a good brand or model I should get?
Well, since you like the brand you have, why not purchase the mechanical version? C:
I find that Zebra works for me. (As long as they aren't the short models that replicate actual pencils. If you use the eraser too much on those, the inner tube will be exposed through the eraser and you will not be able to erase properly.)
Hope this was some help to you.
Take care.
